Today we celebrated the Passover. It was our very first time having a Passover dinner. I did not do extensive research on what is served for a Passover dinner, but we had lamb chops, brown rice, unleavened bread, and grape juice. We decided that I would make the meal and that Husby would explain Passover to the kids. He taped red paper on the door frame to symbolize the blood that was the sign for the angel of death to “passover” the house and not kill the first born. He explained it in a fairly kid-friendly manner and even made connections to VeggieTales. The kids told us that Jesus is the lamb and that He died on the cross for our sins. Now, with our family something funny happens even in the midst of the serious. As we were eating our Passover dinner, KJ sat chewing her meat. Finally she said, “Am I ever going to be able to swallow this?” I have to admit, it was my very first time making lamb and some of it was a bit tough! Image may be NSFW.

Although we were very excited to celebrate Passover by having our very first Passover dinner, something even more special happened tonight. After getting the boys to bed, Husby spent some time with KJ. She has told us a few times before that she had asked Jesus into her heart. Well, Husby talked to her and sure enough, she understood what it meant. In fact, she told him that she had asked Jesus into her heart many times, especially when she sins. Husby explained to her that once she asks Jesus into her heart, He stays there and she doesn’t have to ask him to come back in every time she does something wrong…she just needs to ask for forgiveness. After getting that all straightened out, Husby asked her if she remembered when she first asked Jesus into her heart. She didn’t really remember. He told her that maybe Mommy and Daddy could help her remember. So, she asked for me to come up. Husby let me know that he thought this would be it! So in anticipation, he grabbed the video camera and of course, I got my camera. Fortunately, Husby had her explain everything about sin and Jesus and asking Him into her heart prior to me coming upstairs, because she started acting goofy once the cameras came out. (I know…I know…but I am a mama and I wanted a pic to document the moment!) So, we had her explain what it meant to ask Jesus into her heart (with the camera rolling) and she did it. She asked Jesus to come into her heart! Afterwards, Husby told her that when even one person asks Jesus into their heart that all the angels in Heaven rejoice. I chimed in saying that there was a party going on in Heaven! This was indeed a big day for KJ!
On Wednesday, April 8, 2009 (Passover) our Princess, KJ, accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior!!!
We are rejoicing right along with the angels! We can’t wait until tomorrow so that she can call the grandparents and extended family to let them know the good news so that they can rejoice with us too!
